Hijab bridal preparation: 6 questions to ask the salon

For a bride who wears hijab the real question is not the hairstyle but where the preparation happens. Six things to settle before booking.

Short answer

For a bride who wears hijab the first question is not the hairstyle but whether the preparation happens apart from the rest of the salon. At Modern Hair Beauty Salon (Muratpaşa, Antalya) there is a separate area for bridal preparation, and the men's barbering section is a separate space. Writing “hijab bridal preparation” in the booking note is enough for the day to be planned around it. The remaining details — who will be present, how long it takes, whether there is a trial — are best agreed before the appointment.

Most bridal-hair articles start with the style. For a bride who wears hijab the order is reversed: first you settle where and how the preparation happens, and only then discuss the look. These six questions are worth asking before booking, whichever salon you go to.

  1. A separate area, or “we'll put up a screen”?These are not the same thing. A screen in the middle of the salon still shares the room with whoever walks in. We have a separate area for bridal preparation.
  2. Who will be in that area on the day?Ask every salon this and insist on a specific answer; “we'll sort something out” is not one. Ask us in advance and the day is planned around it.
  3. How will the hair sit under the covering?A voluminous updo designed for uncovered hair looks quite different under a covering, and it pulls. The style has to be built for the covering from the start.
  4. Can the tiara, pins and accessories be tried on?Bring your accessories with you. The fabric, weight and way the covering is fastened change which pins work — you do not want to discover that on the wedding morning.
  5. The day's plan: how long, and how many people? If your mother, sister or a friend is also getting ready, say so when booking; the time the salon sets aside changes accordingly.
  6. What changes the price, and how does the deposit work?Bridal hair has no single price: the look, hair length and the day's plan decide it. The figure is given before work starts.

Why we are writing this down

Because most of these questions feel awkward to ask on the phone, and by the time you are in the salon it is too late. Having them written down makes asking easier. If one of our answers is not enough for you, going elsewhere is entirely reasonable — what matters is that the wedding morning holds no surprises.

FAQ

What exactly does “separate area” mean?

It means the bridal preparation takes place in an area apart from the rest of the salon. The men's barbering section is a separate space in any case. The details of the day are settled when you book.

How far in advance should I book?

As soon as the wedding date is set. A bridal appointment holds a block of the day, not a single hour; in season those blocks fill up early.

Can I book only for my mother or sister?

Yes. We do special-occasion styling and updos without a bride too; just choose “Updo · special occasion” when booking.

Let's decide in conversation first, not in the chair

You can book even if you are not sure yet — the consultation is part of the appointment and is not charged separately.
